South Rethymno beaches – (Ammoudi, Klisidi, Ammoudaki and Damnoni)

+

32 km south of Rethimno and 4 km east of Plakias you can visit Ammoudi, Klisidi, Ammoudaki and Damnoni, all included in a group of bays. Take the asphalted road from Lefkogia village and stop over at the first beach you will meet, Ammoudi. It offers thick, white sand and rocky seabed, it does not provide all the facilities, just a few tavernas, rooms to rent and beach umbrellas. At the west side of Ammoudi, just 200 metres along a country road, you will spot a small bay called Klisidi, its landmark is a huge rock in the middle of the turquoise waters. You will have to be careful walking on the sharp rocks o reach this beach as there is no path leading to it. Right next to Klisidi you will see a nudists’ beach, Ammoudaki  ( or Little Ammoudi ).

Crystal, turquoise, cold water and white sand will attract you there and a small cantine will provide sea umbrellas and lounge chairs. On the west side of the beach, there is a small cave with magnificent clear-blue water, you just can’t miss it! The country road from Ammoudi leads to Damnoni, a vast, clear beach catering for various visitors’ needs and likes. There are parts of the place which offer beach facilities (umbrellas, lounge chairs, etc) and others which allow the visitor more independence. All the beaches have crystal, deep blue water, high in salt content.
